I will accept Cobra Chicken as a name for our boy Fujinokawa. He still looks like so much fun, win or lose. Yoshinofuji may be beating a higher caliber of guys right now, but Fujinokawa is on pace to be a long-time cult favorite. Also, the Hoshoryu vs Tamawashi bout was surprisingly fun, with the staredown at the OK Corral moment.

I'm gonna keep work-shopping different names for him lol

The crowd are really responding to him. His tenacity is really something that can't be taught. Imagine if Shonannoumi or Shishi could summon up half of that intensity in their sumo.

My man Ura almost got it done. Almost. Well... *almost* almost.

I love it when Ura reminds us that he's a hell of a tough and gritty wrestler. It's not all pink and somersaults with him, though those things do make him awesome.

Nice to see Asanoyama leaving a small reminder on the Basho.

I always wonder what could have been with Asanoyama. When he was fully fit he was a real beast.

Cobra Chicken lamo. Basically a cockatrice or basilisk. I would go with basilisk since legends say they can kill larger creatures with their gaze and voice. Kind of fitting for Fujinokawa in a sense though I don't think he has those powers lol.

Cobra Chicken is slang for our snow geese up here around Toronto. It's like trash panda for raccoons. If we're getting mythical with our boy Fujinokawa, I think we gotta go with Kappa (since kawa means river).

Who is your pick to win it this month?

It’s easy to say now and it’s always been Onosato. He’s a beast and I think only 23 yo +-. Until someone stops him gotta go with him. I do like the Ukrainian though. If he can string a good tournament like he has in Jan he may be Ozeki. Might be too soon though.

How about you?

Onosato is simply too good to not be the favourite for every tournament. It's amazing that we get to see his prime right now, instead of having to relive in archival footage. I would love to see Hoshoryu even the score, though, after the last one.
