That would be tough. But… he’s shown us he can do tough things. Even if he’s not the one winning the yusho, he’s likely going to have a big say in who can and can’t claim the cup.
Yep, I agree. He's shown some great flashes of his old form, though. I hope he gets through the next few days without aggravating anything. Maybe we'll see him sand bag it once he gets that eighth win (if he does get it).
The NHK channel announcer made the point that Aonishki is fighting all lower-ranked guys from here. If he goes undefeated down the stretch he'll be a contender.
He also made the point I've been making for the last week and half -- that Kayo needs to quit being on the defensive. (He did not call him Butterball....)
Takayasu has a similar path, too. I hope Aonishiki and Kusano meet up. That could really throw a spanner in the works for Aonishiki. And yes to Kayo's game. It's the same one Oshoma has and look how badly that has done up in the komusubi rank. Guys at this level are just too good to fall for that side-step in every bout.
My money is figuratively on Kirishima now, though it all depends on how this upcoming bout with Onosato goes.
I’m desperate for another Kirishima yusho!
Today saw a whole new rollercoaster
It’s hard work now for Onosato he will need to win every bout from tomorrow to even be in with the running!
Tamawashi one behind he’s done well ! So I still think we are looking at Kirishima and Aonishiki but we have 4 others sharing the pace.
Ichiyamamoto at 9-1 we have 6 Rikishi at 8-2 so running directly behind the leader too of board.
But Atamifuji has filled us with hope he will get to at least 8 from 7-3
You see all that nans clapping is working haha
Onosato is going to have to run the table at 5-0 to have a chance to win. Even then will probably result in playoff.

Seems like Kotozakura is in survival mode for another Basho. I hope he is able to turn the corner after this one and get back to full form.
