Well here we go, I agree with the Gr8 Tim, Kirishima bout last night started and finished and I am confused as to what to say ! In my very limited opinion Kirishima should have had the win, he was clearly airborne whilst I could see that Hakuoho was definitely touching the clay, in my opinion Kirishima was using Hakuoho head to remain airborne so I just don’t know what to say about how that got missed, at the very least play back should have been checked
Now then if you know me by now? You just know I am going to talk about Atamifuji oh yes he’s now 6-3 I am hoping he will get to at least 8 he’s really looking good, I think all us mommas need to clap a bit more for him!
My end lead picks
Onosato, Kirishima , Aonishiki, then I can’t pick between Tamawashi or Ichiyamamoto who has stunned everyone by popping in to the lead !
Pushing and thrusting worked for him. Kotozakura is looking toward a poor record 5-4 really isn’t good for Ozeki
I'm very confused by that Kirishima vs. Hakuoho match. I don't think there's any way the infamous 'dead body rule' can be considered in this situation. Both Kirishima and Hakuoho were attempting finishing moves in this sequence. If Kirishima wasn't given the win for clearly being off the ground when Hakuoho touched, the bare minimum he should have been given was a mono-ii and a torinaoshi.
I'm so happy that Atamifuji is showing his ability here. I think this is a pretty friendly ranking for him and somewhere he can thrive. He's struggled in the joi, so I'd like to see him get a bit more seasoning around these ranks before getting back up there and having to face murderer's row again.
Yes, to the confusion and disappointment about no playback! It was obvious to me when it happened! Of course I’m a Kirishima fan, and I yelled at the screen.
You and Tim Bissel have made me root for Atamifuji more. And I like you picks. Not sure Ichiyamamoto will make it all the way, but happy if he does!
I am a massive Atamifuji fan, because he’s sweet, he says himself he’s not the best wrestler, but he works really hard, so every win he has earned, he’s very popular the fans love him, it’s because he is sweet he has a gorgeous smile !
I agree though I thought yesterday Ichiyamamoto looked very determined and I feel he has a different body language suddenly
But I still think the end will be Kirishima, Aonishiki possibly Tamawashi and Kusano
Atamifuji sure is beloved over in Japan. I think his lisp adds to the kawaii factor, too.
Ichiyamamoto has a fanbase in Japan for similar reasons that Atamifuji has. But I agree he's looked a lot more serious, and even imposing at times, during this basho.
Yeah, it's a tough tournament for little guys... since there are so many of them. Midorifuji, Asakoryu, Fujinokawa, Tokihayate, Kotoeiho are all ranked around each other. Each of them are good at catching out the old and slows who usually lurk around these rankings, but there's a scarcity of them this tournament.
Had to laugh on seeing Kayo facing Shodai, neither one of whom can fight in reverse. It was a match to see who retreats slowest.
Takerufuji v Chiyoshoma was a little iffy, but Kirishima was totally robbed. I was yelling at the TV the moment it happened. There's a bunch of blind judges around that ring!
I'm happy for Ichi taking the lead, but I can't see him lasting there much longer. I come out with a new prediction about every other day, and now I think it'll come down to Onosato v Kirishima. Incredible, though, that Aonishki and Kusano are right there with them at this point in the tournament!
Kirishima is my fave, but I would love an Ichiyamamoto yusho. We haven't had a maegashira winner since Takerufuji. The meme potential for Ichiyamamoto with a cup/fish would be immense, too.
I agree, I do not understand how Kirishima being in the air when Hakuoho shin calf was clearly on the clay, yet the referee pointed to Hakuoho
I am pleased about Atamifuji, and of course your right he is where he should be now
As you say before he hits murderers row, in which case I may keep my eyes closed
The thought of him being pummelled to death makes me wince !
Still I think with you
Onosato, Kirishima and Aonishiki will finish top
I would like to think that Ichiyamamoto can complete but I don’t think he can get to it it means he has to win every bout from now on, but then so does Onosato, Kirishima and the rest, so really “ what do I know “
I was expecting a lot better from Kinbozan in this tournament. It's easy to forget how big he is, he's one of the tallest guys in the division. That size makes him a tough out for Kotozakura. I still think Kotozakura is going to finish this with at least a kachi-koshi and maybe even a 10-5.
So, out of my predictions I have 1 solid leader right and 1 off the cuff
So Aonishiki in top and possibly Kusano so I got Aonishiki definitely and Kusano a guess
although many see Kusano as a Rookie and yet to get a bout with superior / Elite opponent, he’s been watching and learning from Aonishiki who has been using moves that we barely ever see and so I wouldn’t count him out just yet, he beat Mitakeumi and that was no mean feat!
In order now for Onosato to clinch this trophy, everyone else needs to start loosing
I don’t really see that happening!
For some reason I seemed to have missed Kotoshoho out altogether, my apologies for that
I still rate Kirishima, and Guys
You all know by now
How delighted I am that Atamifuji clinched a number 8 , wouldn’t it be something if he got to ten ? he’s worked so hard, and obviously thanks to anyone that’s been extra clapping for him, he’s been smiling all week !!
Kiri was robbed. It was completely evident to me watching on my phone that he won that bout, he was clearly airborne. I have no idea why the referee signalled so quickly and so wrongly when he was standing 100 cm away. And the other judges just let it slide. Was Don King involved?

I cannot decide on Onosato!

His lips! They rival Kotoshoho's!
My wife calls him Duck Boy. He also looks a lot like the official mascot of the sumo association.
He’s just sweet, though probably he would want us old grannies to think he’s the butcher boy lol
Let’s see if we can get him over the stretch to ten, his fans will go crazy !!
You've convinced me! You're right about that smile... implies sweetness, like a big honey bear....
Ichiyamamoto looked great on night 10. Fought hard to win.
Sad my boy Asakoryu isn’t having a stronger tournament.

Kotozakura was doing pretty well as of late, but this recent loss to Kinbozan looked bad again.
