It's not exactly rising to the moment, right? You've got the yokozuna there, someone who should encourage you to perform your best sumo and you just show everyone that you're too intimidated to do that... not great.
I like the idea of counting Tobizaru's rows cleared in the audience ;) Poor Tobizaru. And Fujinokawa is finding the top level guys are both bigger and more experienced to avoid falling for his tactics.
I don't mind them so long as there aren't too many. Wakamotoharu doing it on day one wasn't a good look, though. I think that showed a lack of confidence on his part, against someone who routinely beats him.
Onokatsu: I’m surprised no one seems to have noticed that Uncle Itchy flat knocked him out with a headbutt at the tachiai. Itchy held him for a sec, but the moment he released him, O collapsed. You can see, after, he wasn’t holding his leg or really even limping. I’m pretty sure he’s likely badly concussed. Of course I hope it’s “just” that!
Yeah, he might have been seeing stars there. The reason I thought he blew his ACL is because I've seen guys act paralyzed or delirious with pain after suffering them. Super prospect Mita blew his out a few tournaments ago and he looked really swimmy after it happened.
btw i forget if i've already shared these but apparently last basho, ichiyamamoto used to race out of the ryōgoku kokugikan straight after his bouts to beat the crowds on public transport. it's all i can think of now whenever i see him fight LOL
I'm getting tired of the Waka brothers and their Henkas. I know it has a place in the sport, but day 1? Really?

100%

I'm going to do Ura flips, too.
yes please!
I don’t like Henkas, I think it’s lazy and to use it on day 1 just proves that point!

yeah. i used to be ok with henkas but have come to dislike most of them. they can be fun, but using one on day one just sucks. glad it didn't work!
I just think when you’re trying to get up the ranks using A henka is just not cricket !!
I am also glad so far this year we have not seen those really scary moves !
yeah, i'm glowering at my screen every time wakamotoharu fights, daring him to go for an utchari

yeah, a friend of mine blew a tendon once and was out cold.
I saw that Mita moment too! He was REALLY hurting.
i'll go back and check that!
hard to tell... a lot happening at the same time.
