Aonishiki's foot trip to beat Wakatakakage was a thing of beauty.

His head-to-toe offense is spellbinding at times. He's caught the entire division unaware with that.

Basically the same exact result for Onosato as yesterday. Good stuff. Thanks Tim.

I don't know how much longer he can last like this. I'm starting to worry he's going to turn a shoulder injury that could heal over time into something that will require surgery.

I’m guessing he loses and goes 6-5 he drops out.

Well here we are at the end of day nine and half of me could cry and the other half is elated, for those who know my comments you know of what I speak !!

I was so consumed by what day nine might bring, is was watching some of the bouts going round Morrisons at 08.15 am I didn’t want to miss a thing!

Kotazakura and Takayasu who in previous times very formidable but not today, Kotozakura was at his best and overall looking really strong he made short work of Takayasu.

I felt sorry for Onosato clearly his left shoulder was in agony this morning and did not want to use it or have it used, Wakamotoharu put his hand on his shoulder and I do think to his credit didn’t enjoy it, but it was expedient for the win, Onosato looked in agony !!

Aonishiki has Takanosho tomorrow not an opponent to be sniffed at, he can be an unknown quantity when he wants to this is one match Aonishiki can’t afford to be Blaise about, Aonishiki having come through a confrontation with the other Waka, relief clear for all to see, he needs to start using some of those sneaky little moves he was using when we first saw him apply them last year, maybe stop listening to the coaches and be the master of his own game!

Abi lost, that surprised me, though Kotoshoho is a strong opponent, known to come out of nowhere and today he did just that, he startled Abi, I think Abi thought this would go his way, but it didn’t.

So Kirishima is right now the last man standing at the top ! And rightly so, I have always liked this Rikishi he’s looking really good and he wants to get to Ozeki, I think he may do it

Well now last but definitely not least , Atamifuji I was so excited for this mornings bout , half wanted Hoshoryu to defend and defeat the other half of me wanted Atamifuji to do the same

In the end I was down the Bread isle when the bout took place when I realised I wasn’t alone, 3 other people were watching with me!!

Hoshoryu looked buggered, not quite accepting being beaten by Atamifuji in his head ! His body language huffy at being disposed of by someone he thought was going to be fairly quick to dispatch but it didn’t happen

Now Hoshoryu knows he would have to win every day now to be in it to win it, at this point I can’t see either Yokozuna finishing tomorrow

I have calmed down, yesterday’s frustration at Hoshuryu has gone accepting his position or lack of it

Mr Insufferable is still in Aonishiki camp

I'd love to see Kirishima snag this yusho, but I'd be very satisfied with this tournament being just a solid entry in an ozeki run.

You found other sumo fans? I wonder if the London Basho has converted a lot of folks into sumo watchers, now.

Hi Tim

Are you feeling better? We hope so

Slowly, but surely.

I was in the Morrisons supermarket and had the volume on slightly, when I realised three people were also huddled round me watching off my phone, they seemed impressed!!
