I am delighted to announce Maciej Okapa as the winner of the latest Sumo Stomp! giveaway. Maciej receives an authentic, signed, ozeki Goeido tegata courtesy of TegataStore.com (check them out here!).
Here’s how I selected Maciej as our winner.
First of all I exported a list of all paid subscribers from Substack and put that into a spreadsheet. I then added in some folks who have paid through paypal and not Substack. That gave me a list of 111 people (amazing that so many of you support this blog — can’t thank you all enough!).
I then duplicated the entries on various accounts based on whether they were monthly, annual or founding subscribers. Annual subscribers had six entries. Founding subscribers had 15.
Once I added all those duplicate entries on the spreadsheet I had 535 rows of data, each including an email address and the corresponding Substack username (if there was one).
I then found a random number generator online. That gave me ‘350’.
I located row 350 on my spreadsheet and there was Maciej.
Congrats again to Maciej and thank you to everyone who subscribed to Sumo Stomp! during the last basho (and before, of course).
If you missed out on this tegata, but really want to grab one for your wall, please visit TegataStore.com. Ben, who runs that site, has been a big supporter of Sumo Stomp! for some time now. His store is filled with incredible sumo merchandise and artifacts. Obviously he has tegata, but there are also torikumi sheets and illustrated banzuke (love those!).
I have another giveaway in the works. I can’t wait to fully reveal that. It’s looking like a lucky subscriber might win something they can wear, though…
Stay tuned for that!
Tim
PS. Here’s Goeido’s retirement press conference/career retrospective from five years ago.
