Today I received a very disappointing notification from TPOP, the France-based company that I run the Sumo Stomp! merch store through. Because of legislative changes in the US, TPOP will no longer accept sales to US based customers.
Here is their announcement on this matter:
Due to a new US regulation, all goods entering the country now have to be taxed and declared from the very first dollar, with no minimum threshold.
Because of this, using our current postal service is now impossible, as packages sent will be refused by US customs and won’t be returned to the sender.
As a result, starting August 25, 2025, we won’t be able to ship orders to the United States anymore. Any order placed with a US address after this date can’t be processed or shipped.
We’re sorry about this situation that’s out of our hands, and we’ll keep you updated if an alternative comes up in the future.
I don’t know why I wasn’t sent some kind of alert about this closer to August 25. As a result there are a few US sales being processed by my store right now. My understanding is that they will all be refunded.
If anyone bought something and has any troubles regarding that, please shoot me a message and I’ll prioritize fixing things.
Hopefully TPOP figures out a workaround for this. If they don’t, then I’ll have to think about moving my shop somewhere else.
IN THE MEANTIME, IF YOU ARE IN THE USA PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THE STORE.
Sorry for the inconvenience everyone.
Tim
Thanks, Trump.
Thanks for the notification, Tim! I'll let you know if there's any trouble with the refund at my end. I'm sorry for the hassle!
