Earlier this week I did the prize draw to see who would win the Ichinojo tegata, which has been so kindly provided by TegataStore.com. I’ve covered my methodology for drawing winners in a past post (link here), so I won’t go over that again here. Big thanks to Tegata Store for supporting Sumo Stomp! yet again. Please head on over to their site to check out their current inventory. They always have a great assortment of tegata, torikumi and banzuke.
The winner of the tegata this time around is Lawrence! Congrats Lawrence and thank you for supporting Sumo Stomp! for over a year now.
To determine Lawrence as our winner I generated a number between 1 and 747 and got 128.
128 corresponded to where Lawrence was listed on my spreadsheet.
I also want to use this post to draw attention to a GoFundMe for Henry Miller, who competed under the name Sentoryu during 1990s. Miller is currently trying to fund a lung transplant surgery.
You can find the GoFundMe campaign for Miller here (link).
Here’s a clip from a documentary covering Miller’s time as Sentoryu.
Sentoryu, who was born in St. Louis, MO, was the first rikishi from the mainland US to make it to the makuuchi. He fought between 1988 and 2003 and finished with a career record of 402-303-99 across 93 basho. His highest ever rank was maegashira 12.
Let’s help him out!
