He's had a few wins like that this month. It feels like when a baseball hitter is doing well and they say "it's like he's seeing a beach ball out there." Kirishima just seems to be flowing and seeing everything in slow motion.
So day ten proved to be a interesting eclectic mix of styles, but I am going to lead with this, we saw Ura battle it out with Hakunofuji which was a fairly aggressive show, I thought wow Ura might win, then I started yelling at him not to do it, did you all notice he was trying to attempt the move that is really dangerous Utchari [ backwards pivot throw ] which was used by Wakamotoharu on Hiradoumi on day 9 and the way Hiradoumi landed he was very lucky his neck wasn’t hit !
Now Ura is extremely familiar with that move, but I say it every time, I hope we never see it again
Kotoshoho stumbled today I was surprised, Shodai is an excellent rikishi, but I thought this was in the bag for Kotoshoho !
Aonishiki still letting rikishi get the better of him!
Kotoshoho losing that was quite the upset. I thought he would have been able to push Shodai back and make him quit (like Shodai does when he's under a lot of pressure, sadly).
One of the interesting stories in this basho for me was to see how the new makuuchi wrestlers are doing. Fujiseiun looks like he is doing quite well, and Kotoeiho is having more success on his return. Fujiryoga is a little disappointing, where it seems he has fewer answers for wrestlers who stand up to his initial aggression. I think the same happened with Wakonosho on his call-up match with Nishikigifuji last night.
I'm very surprised by Kotoeiho. I had thought he was just not physically strong enough to hang up here. But he's actually been able to out muscle a few guys. And yeah, I thought Fujiyroga might have done better than he's doing now, even if I don't see him ever being a top guy.
Kirishima's win was a thing of beauty. He made it look effortless.

you can always add a counter for "no action on any of the counters" ;-)
Keep the counters running. I love the new section even if Tobizaru doesn't want to participate. ;-)
Maybe he is saving up his tramples for the final few days.

Tim what’s going on with these loose belts ?
